This video of our Gig Harbor trip is just more proof that year-round boating in the Pacific Northwest makes sense. In fact, it’s a great time! We tied up at the Tides Tavern, which has beautiful new docks, and explored the area from there.

During the rainy season, when we were just starting The Boat Guy, we invaded Pike Place Market and one of my favorite Lake Union boating destinations, Duke’s Chowder House, to find out why they call chowder, “chowder.”

Go anywhere in the country and ask people what comes to mind when they think of Seattle. I bet they say, throwing salmon, the Space Needle, and ferries. The Washington State Ferries system really represents Seattle and the Northwest.

We were hopeful that the people who had the courage to join us, in the dead of winter, would have a good time and return with some great memories, as well as some new friends. For all of those reasons, we couldn’t be happier with the way the Winter Rendezvous turned out!

With regard to the “Winter Boating” segment, I want everyone to know that I “eat my own cooking.” I’m not laying on my couch, during the winter months, with my favorite blanket over me, while I tell you folks you should get out on the water. Honest! This time I’m telling the truth. Really!
