Inspired by its iconic Bestevaer expedition sailing yachts, the CE Category A Ocean rated, aluminum 53-footer has a two-stateroom, two-head layout and an elegant, Scandinavian-inspired interior by Christien Starkenburg.

The 53 MY looks to be an ideal setup for a cruising couple with occasional family and guests, with a single-level layout and the large, double doors from the cockpit. While stowage in the galley and staterooms is adequate, a large lazarette and deep compartments on the foredeck can be packed with everything —deck furniture, lines, fenders and additional sundries.

The pilothouse is flanked by doors to each of the side decks, which are wide and protected by high bulwarks and a beefy grabrail. A hydraulic swim platform allows for easy egress to the water and eases launching of paddleboards and other water toys. Hidden away on the after section of the hardtop is a davit to launch the dinghy.

A full keel protects running gear and means that the vessel can beach itself. Another noteworthy construction attribute: she has three watertight compartments. For inland cruising, her air draft is under 12 feet.

Powered by a pair of 110-hp Yanmars, the 53 MY has a 1,450-nautical-mile range at 8 knots and can cruise up to 12.5 knots.

In addition to the 53 MY, the Netherlands-based builder has two other models on the drawing board—a 49-footer and a 63-footer, which follow the same ethos as the 53 MY. The 63-foot model also gets a flybridge.
