Serendipity, a Marlow 62, is among the largest boats that completed the Great Loop in 2023.

It is also the largest boat that Mike and Crystal Thomas have owned, a couple with decades of boating in their backgrounds. It was a big jump from a 40-something-footer, but after seeing the Marlow at a boat show, it was love at first sight.

The couple started their semicustom build with Marlow Yachts just as Covid shut down any opportunity for them to visit Marlow’s boatbuilding facility. But as you will hear, that didn’t stop the seasoned builder from working closely with the Thomas’s on a host of modifications for Serendipity, from a folding mast that allowed them to complete the Great Loop without compromise to being the first Marlow Yacht that is powered by Volvo Penta IPS drives.
