TrawlerFest has found a new home at the Riviera Beach Municipal Marina. TrawlerFest-Riviera Beach begins on Tuesday, Jan. 20, with seminars and goes through Sunday, Jan. 25. The in-water boat show begins on Thursday, Jan. 22, and runs through Sunday, featuring boats for long-term cruisers and liveaboards.

TrawlerFest is PassageMaker’s stand-alone series of boat shows, specifically designed for power cruisers, strategically located in cruising regions nationwide.

In the past there was a distinction between TrawlerFest and TrawlerFest University. TrawlerFest University consisted of long seminars on Tuesday and Wednesday, while TrawlerFest put on shorter seminars, the in-water boat show and vendor exhibits, opening on Thursday and running through Sunday.

For TrawlerFest-Riviera Beach we have added several longer TrawlerFest U type courses and scheduled them in two-morning blocks (the equivalent of a full-day) all the way through Sunday, while maintaining a full-schedule of short seminars at the same time. Our goal is to give attendees an opportunity to take more than one University-style course or any combination of longer and shorter seminars.

“Essentially we have taken our new team approach to our Diesel Engine Seminar and replicated with several other day-long seminars on topics such as Boat Buyer’s Survival Guide and Soup-to-Nuts Navigation,” says PassageMaker Editor Peter Swanson. “One of our goals is to educate our attendees as consumers and ensure that what they learn not only makes their better cruisers but saves them money—hopefully more money than the price of the course.”

Located at 200 East 13th Street in Riviera Beach, Florida, the new venue lies along the Intracoastal Waterway, just two miles south of Lake Park Marina, site of last year’s event. Set at the mouth of the Lake Worth Inlet, the freshly refitted marina is a perfect solution to accommodate cruisers that are not local to the Palm Beach area.

“Airfares, hotels and other travel plans can all remain the same for attendees,” says Jennifer Jones, AIM’s vice president of marketing and events. Travelers can use the same airport—Palm Beach International—and same hotels, Hilton or Marriott.”

The Riviera Beach facility recently underwent a $375-million renovation at the hands of Viking Development, and offers a TrawlerFest a state-of-the-art setting like no other. Attendees will get a sneak preview of this facility as it will be under construction during the show. None of the work will interfere with seminars or enjoyment of the boat show.

Just north of the Port of Palm Beach, the Riviera Beach Marina offers 89 floating-dock slips to both permanent and transient boaters as well as a slew of other amenities including a full-service restaurant, laundry and a convenience store.

“This year’s TrawlerFest marks what we believe will be a long and fruitful relationship between our organization and the city of Riviera Beach and Viking,” says Gary DeSanctis, general manager of the AIM Marine Group, PassageMaker’s parent organization.

Registration for TrawlerFest Riviera Beach is open with several courses ready for ticketing. By the end of next week we’ll have our entire curriculum posted. Click to purchase seminar tickets.
