Scientific America produced this great video, seen below, on the work being done on Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute’s newest research ship, the R/V Armstrong. With a state of the art robotic submarine they are able to dive deep below the arctic ice to study the development and evolution of sea creatures around thermal vents. While thermal vents exist throughout the world’s oceans, the ecosystems around each vent are different based upon how marine life has adapted and evolved to exist within those waters. Scientific America interviewed senior Wood Hole scientist, Chris German in the below video to learn about this work.
