Seakeeper launched its smallest gyrostabilizer at the Miami International Boat Show. President and CEO Andrew Semprevivo introduced the Seakeeper 1, designed for boats from 23 to 30 feet, during a preshow press conference.
“What was once the exception is now the expectation,” Semprevivo said.
The unit’s flush-mounted case — a first for Seakeeper — measures about 23 by 24 by 16 inches and can be placed just about anywhere on board. The unit weighs 350 pounds. “We wanted to provide builders more options and flexibility,” Semprevivo said.
Like other models, the Seakeeper 1 eliminates up to 95 percent of a boat’s rolling motion, the company said in a statement.
The 12V, DC unit draws 55 amps and comes with ConnectBox, a dedicated control unit atop the case. It also can be controlled from the helm, with connectivity to MFDs from Raymarine, Garmin and Simrad.
MSRP is $14,900, and Seakeeper said more than 12 boatbuilders plan to integrate the Seakeeper 1 into their newest models, with availability starting in June.
