Raymarine debuted its new Axiom+ Multifunction navigation displays and updated Raymarine Lighthouse Charts, giving the media a preview via a webinar last week.

Raymarine parent company FLIR unveiled the successor to its Axiom MFDs, Axiom+ was engineered with speed, responsiveness and future expansion in mind.

Available in 7-, 9-, and 12-inch display models, Axiom+ comes with a quad-core processor for fast chart redraws, multi-channel sonar views, and augmented reality navigation.

Storage has increased to 16 GB, said FLIR marketing director Jim Hands during the webinar.

“We’ve increased brightness 25 percent, going all the way up to 1,800 nits on the 12-inch display,” said Hands. “So, some nice, big, bright MFDs that work great in the Florida sun.”

The company used HydroTough, its nano-coated impact-resistant glass that helps repel water, oil and smudges for better viewing and reportedly more accurate touch controls.

Four built-in sonar channels – including RealVision 3D – deliver comprehensive views of the underwater world, and an ultra-sensitive GPS/GNSS receiver offers four times improvement in sensitivity.

The units are now available to dealer networks. The 7-inch is $749, or $949 with RV sonar; the 9-inch is $1,099, or $1,299 with RV sonar, and the 12-inch is $2,499, or $2,649 with RV sonar.

Along with the upgraded Axiom+ line, Raymarine is unveiling a new electronic catalog of LightHouse Charts.

The charts are designed from official hydrographic sources — the same data used by maritime professionals — and offer Raymarine users a new level of clarity and customization, detail and the ability to explore on-shore destinations, fishing spots, and points-of-interest data.

Captains can choose between four chart color pallets optimized for bright sun, dusk and nighttime lighting conditions so boaters “don’t destroy their night vision,” said Hands.

It gives captains the option to use recreational and professional applications of the charts. Premium subscribers can access continuous chart updates, an expanded points-of-interest library, and enhanced satellite imagery from Mapbox. It also offers new, modernized fonts, graphics and enhanced gauges and a “tremendous improvement in visibility and brightness,” said Jim McGowan, Americas marketing manager for Raymarine and FLIR.

“Axiom+ takes everything boaters enjoy about Axiom and elevates the user experience with increased performance, simpler navigation, and superior visibility,” said Raymarine VP and general manager Gregoire Outters in a statement. “Combine these benefits with our new LightHouse Chart catalog and boaters have an exciting, powerful, and sophisticated new choice for marine navigation.”

Chart prices start at $79.
