Grand Banks To Debut New Eastbay At Newport Show This Fall

The lastest addition to the Grand Banks fleet of Eastbays, the 44, will be offered in both sedan and flybridge variations.

Grand Banks Yachts said construction is under way on the 44 Eastbay, an all-new model that is scheduled to debut at U.S. boat shows in the fall.

The boat is the latest model in the builder’s Eastbay line of Down East-style yachts.

Just a year removed from the 20th anniversary of the Eastbay’s debut, Grand Banks said the new 44 combines the attributes of its Hunt Associates-designed hull with a lighter, stronger build using the latest construction techniques.

The 44 will be available with a three-cabin layout or with a standard two-stateroom layout that adds a utility room in lieu of a third cabin.

In the main salon, electric drop-down windows will open the boat up on all sides. The salon will feature a straight galley to starboard and a U-dinette to port that is about 8 feet long.

Powered by standard twin Volvo IPS 600 (435 MHP) diesel engines, the yacht should exceed 32 knots at top speed, the builder said.

Grand Banks said the current production schedule slots the first hull of the 44 to debut at the Newport (R.I.) International Boat Show in September. That hull will sport the saloon express, but a flybridge version will be made available for future owners.
