Trawler folk like to move at a leisurely clip. We have some get-up-and-go in reserve, but tend to meander along while enjoying our favorite pastime. Slow and steady may not win the race, but it’s the right pace.

The opposite is true for our breakneck adoption of technology. From our helms fitted with the latest electronics suites to our GPS-connected tablets and iPads serving as redundant navigational systems, the coastal and long-range cruisers and enthusiasts who make up Passagemaker’s readership are on the cutting edge.

And while those of us who create Passagemaker love reaching our loyal readers in print—that is still the cornerstone of our operation—knowing how connected our audience is, we have been augmenting our efforts in digital media to bring you the latest news and views. Our Facebook and Instagram feeds (both are @passagmakermag) are updated daily, with new, original and breaking-news content.

I’m also happy to report that in early June, we kicked off another season of our Trawler Talk podcast, with new episodes dropping regularly. What do you need to get Wi-Fi on board while cruising far and wide? Interested in knowing if you have what it takes to be a delivery captain? Do you love to cruise with your pup in tow, or are you breaking in a new pooch to the boating lifestyle? How about an in-depth interview with Nordhavn co-founder and co-owner Jim Leishman? These are just a few of the topics of the latest episodes, with more available at passagemaker.com/trawlertalk. If you haven’t already, please subscribe on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher or wherever you get podcasts.

We also enjoy meeting our audience in-person at our Trawlerfest events, with the next installment happening in Baltimore in early fall. Join us from September 27 to October 1 for renowned educational seminars; an impressive, in-water selection of new and pre-owned cruising powerboats; and the latest in marine products and services.

I look forward to meeting many of you there in Baltimore’s picturesque Inner Harbor, swapping cruising stories and perhaps making plans for future adventures. Perhaps Trawlerfest is the ideal backdrop to launch something I have been pondering that has been an integral part of the digital media landscape. Who is ready for Passagemaker TikTok? The unblinking eye of my iPhone awaits.
