The hull has come out of the mold, and the rakish new Selene 50 Europa is due to arrive stateside by the end of this year. The 50 is designed with a three-stateroom, two-head layout and will be powered by a 330hp Cummins QSL9. A full-displacement vessel, the 50 will cruise at 7 to 9 knots. The drawing of the master stateroom, notable for the oblique orientation of the berth in relation to the vessel’s centerline, was drawn by Howard Chen himself. Chen is founder of Jet-Tern Marine, builder of the Selene line.
The 50 is based on the Selene 42, a model which debuted last year, and is the smallest yacht in the Selene fleet to feature a three-cabin layout. Currently, Selene has 6 boats in production based off of the 42.
What sets the Europa apart from Selene’s Trawler line is the placement of the vessel’s helm. Their trawlers feature a helm in a raised pilothouse, while the Europa’s helm shares the same space as the saloon and galley area.
