We came away impressed with the debut model from Australia’s Iliad Yachts, the 53F. Its semicustom abovedeck and belowdecks spaces, stowage solutions and wide, well-protected, walkaround side decks all hinted at the boat’s modus operandi: to travel far and wide in comfort and safety.

The Iliad 60 continues the theme in a larger package. Her CE-A class hull has a reported range of 3,500 nautical miles with standard 600-hp Volvo Penta D8s. Optional power packages include 725-hp Volvo Penta D11s, 600- to 670-hp Cummins, 640-hp Yanmars and Iliad’s e-Motion hybrid diesel package. Owners can also choose to increase the standard 1,320-gallon fuel capacity to 1,848 gallons for even more range.

The upper flybridge area features teak decking arranged with two woven outdoor sofas, a matching armchair, two round coffee tables, and a wet bar console. Six solar panels are neatly integrated into the hardtop roof structure covering the upper lounge. Mounted on the aft deck below, a grey inflatable tender boat with a center steering console rests securely on a dedicated platform.

Hull No. 1 will have an open flybridge. An enclosed, climate-controlled flybridge is available. Each version has a carbon fiber hardtop with 500 watts of solar power fed to a Victron battery management system.

The four-stateroom, belowdecks layout includes a king-berth master stateroom, a pair of staterooms with walkaround queens, and a guest stateroom with three individual berths. A handful of optional belowdecks configurations include crew quarters, a workshop, dedicated office space and more.

Iliad’s 60 is expected to splash stateside late this year. iliadcatamarans.com
