Stephenie Hollyman, is an intriguing character, to say the least.
We were aware that she was a longtime liveaboard in the San Francisco Bay area on her 36-foot Sundowner trawler, along with her dog Zippy.

We also knew that she was a writer, as she has been a contributor for Passagemaker for some time.
But her journey as a seasoned captain, an author of 3 books, and a photo and video journalist for major networks almost sounds like a fable, with stops as a New York Harbor tugboat cook, a Fulbright scholar, and a lower Manhattan resident that shared a loft with a Pulitzer Prize-winning author. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
It’s a fascinating tale, and like many of us, it started with a tiny boat.
