Robert and Graciela Gannon had never owned a boat before they purchased their Ranger Tugs R-31. But as Robert says, “our desire was greater than our fear,” as evidenced by their maiden voyage onboard Sweet Love: a few months of cruising in the Pacific Northwest.

The Gannons bought the boat with the intention of completing the Great Loop, which they did, followed by the Down East Loop and longer jaunts in New England and south Florida. But Europe beckoned, and a few months ago, they loaded Sweet Love on a freighter bound for Amsterdam.

We caught up with them after a North Sea crossing to England, towards the end of their summer cruising. The couple tell us about their favorite places to boat in the U.S., why they decided to ship their boat to across the Atlantic, museum hopping in Amsterdam, cruising in Europe and what’s next for Sweet Love.
