When cruising hither and yon in our boats, many of us happen to be moving along at the ideal speed for trolling. So why not throw out a line!

One issue is that most passagemaking-style boats are not designed for fishing. However, many have wide side decks, a usable cockpit, a roomy swim platform and transom doors that can be easily pressed into service to land fish.

We are joined by editor-in-chief Charlie Levine—from our sister publication Anglers Journal—who has casted many a line from all types of boats, including trawlers. Levine walks us through the onboard equipment you’d need for success while trolling, bottom fishing, jigging and more to add fresh fish to your sundries.
