Stuart, Florida, is home to the newest DeFever dealership. POCTA International, builder of DeFever offshore cruisers, has announced that Stuart Yacht Sales will be its Southeastern U.S. sales and marketing wing and Stuart Yacht Harbour will become its commissioning and service center.
“Having a dealership in Stuart will give the DeFever brand access to the important Southeastern United States market, and especially, Florida,” said POCTA President Wilson Lin
Statistics from the National Marine Manufacturers Association show that Florida is the number one market in the United States for the recreational boating industry. Strategically located at the “crossroads” of Florida, Stuart and Martin County in general is a major boating hub. Stuart is an important juncture for “Loopers” as they cross Florida via the Okeechobee Inland Waterway to the East Coast Intracoastal Waterway or head out the St. Lucie Inlet to the Bahamas and the Florida Keys.
Cruisers make up the primary market for Stuart Yacht Sales’ brokerage business and are also the primary market for new DeFever Motor Yachts. As a Lieutenant Sponsor of the American Great Loop Cruisers Association (AGLCA, GreatLoop.org), the Stuart Yacht Sales team is well acquainted with the cruising boat requirements of “Loopers” and offshore cruisers as well.
Wilson Lin and his son, Louis, said they were very impressed with Stuart Yacht Sales’ brokerage offices located across from Martin County’s Sunset Bay Marina, and on the Manatee Pocket in Port Salerno. Both locations have brokerage boat slips; the dockage next to Sunset Bay Marina are deep water slips that can accommodate 50-foot boats with drafts up to five feet.
Both offices are conveniently located within walking distance of waterfront and/or downtown restaurants, shops, artisans, art galleries, entertainment, marine supplies and more. Downtown Stuart and Port Salerno are quaint, historic communities with waterfront walkways, recreational activities, events and more to draw visitor and local resident traffic alike by land or sea.
Additionally, Stuart Yacht Sales has the distinct advantage of “partnering” with Stuart Yacht Harbour, a highly regarded yacht commissioning and full service facility owned and operated by Gregg and Nancy Burdick since 1970, as commissioning and servicing agent for the DeFever brand.
Stuart Yacht Harbour is well-known for its high quality commissioning and service of Nordhavn, Kady-Krogen, Camano and PDQs among many other cruising and sailboat manufacturers. Stuart Yacht Harbour has its own private, protected dockage and haul-out facility on the deep water south fork of the St. Lucie River, one mile below the St. Lucie locks.
Andy Andreoli, a broker staffing the Stuart Yacht Sales Sunset Bay Marina office, was formerly a successful DeFever dealer in Maryland for more than ten years. “DeFevers are such well-designed and built boats—designed by legendary naval architect, Arthur DeFever, based on his early experience drafting commercial offshore fishing trawlers, and exclusively built by POCTA’s expert engineers and craftsmen,” Andreoli said.
