MarineMax Panama City Beach in Florida said it will host its first Women on Water certified course for the season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 21.
The course is for women only and is designed to get them behind the helm and enjoying the boating lifestyle.
The course is United States Power Squadrons-certified and is taught by boating safety expert Wil Hugli. He is a certified USPS instructor and a USPS national officer who has written many Power Squadrons courses and seminars.
Hosted by MarineMax broker and sales consultant Bob Fowler, half of the instruction will be in a classroom setting and the latter half will be on the water in a vessel supplied by MarineMax Panama City Beach.
“Women on Water, or WOW courses, are a laid-back, active, fun and supportive environment designed to build confidence behind the helm and to truly enjoy the boating lifestyle. Being United States Power Squadrons-certified makes this WOW course unique to MarineMax Panama City,” Fowler said in a statement. “The United States Power Squadrons is the only agency which is certified to conduct on-water instructions by the United States Coast Guard, and women who complete the course can receive substantial discounts on their boat insurance, saving more than the cost of the course.”
The course is not just for women new to boating. Women who have experienced the boating lifestyle and want to learn new skills and be more comfortable behind the helm are also welcome.
The course is limited to 12 participants. The registration fee is $35 per participant and $20 for any other additional female family members.
Successful participants will receive a certificate of completion and a patch of certification from the Power Squadrons.
