If you’re tired of the same old-same old, land-based European vacation full of hotel-hopping and EuroTraining, and simply can’t afford the hefty fee of shipping your cruiser overseas, how about chartering a cruiser from England-based Le Boat? Offering charter boats, sans itinerary, in any one of nine popular European countries, visitors can discover France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Poland, England, Ireland, and Scotland, in a whole new way.

Incidentally, France accounts for over 70 percent of Le Boat’s business; but if you want to avoid the masses, better arrange your travel for June or September and avoid August altogether when the entire region heads out on holiday. Need more inspiration for cruising the French countryside? Check out our October 2015 issue’s “Le Tight Squeeze.”

Adding to their fleet of nearly 900 boats worldwide, Le Boat has commissioned a new design for smaller groups. The contemporary-looking Horizon model sleeps five adults in two cabins, and also offers sleeping arrangements at the dinette. The Horizon is available in many parts of Le Boat’s French operations, as well as in Italy, Germany, Holland, and on England’s famed Thames.

A training session will greet customers prior to departure, and no specific boating license is required to operate any of the fleet’s vessels. In addition, Le Boat offers a free app for anyone en route, or simply for those curious about these leisurely vacation cruises.

You will, however, have to pay for your own baguettes and fuel. C’est dommage!
