The people have spoken, and by that we mean the attendees at the 6th annual Trawler Fest Anacortes, and by a large majority they voted the DeFever 55 Expedition as this year’s “People’s Choice Award” at Cap Sante Boat Haven. The DF55E was held in high regard by the voters for it’s robust systems, livable layout, and outstanding craftsmanship.
Attendees came to Anacortes, Washington from as far away as Australia, as well as Pacific Northwest MTOA members and would-be or experienced regional cruisers, to attend seminars at Trawler Fest University and Trawler Fest, and to browse through 60 trawlers and distance cruisers displayed by area marine dealers.
The competition was intense, as builders and dealers from a wide range of well-known brands—American Tugs, Aspen, Cutwater, Grand Banks, Helmsman, Kadey-Krogen, Nordhavn, Nordic Tugs, North Pacific, Northwest, Outer Reef, Ranger Tugs, Selene, and many others—vied for attendee’s votes. When the results were tallied, the coveted Ship’s Bell was presented to Wilson Lin, CEO and Operations Director for POCTA, as well as to his son Louis Lin, VP Sales and Operations. The owner of the DF55E, Keith Robertson, was on hand to accept the custom Weems & Plath ship’s log.
If you didn’t have a chance to attend and vote for your favorite builder, Trawler Fest and Trawler Fest University returns to Baltimore, September 24-29, 2013. For details, log on to www.passagemaker.com, and select Trawler Fest in the menu bar. Hope to see you there.
