Hull No. 1 in Outer Reef’s Azure series was a 640 that splashed half a decade ago at the Cannes Yachting Festival. The Côte d’Azur was the ideal backdrop for the model, which takes its design cues from the alfresco lifestyle of the Mediterranean coast.

With its Azure 670 Sport Yacht, Outer Reef ups the ante. Like the 640, the 670 has a CE Class A hull modified to create more lift with heavier loads aft. But because of the 670’s extra length, the cockpit could be reconfigured with a section dedicated to water sports. There is also a deep stowage locker—ideal for scuba enthusiasts—and there’s a hydraulic swim platform for launch and retrieval of water toys.
Outer Reef also expanded the usable outdoor space on the foredeck with a C-shape seating area that replaces the Portuguese bridge on the smaller Azure. A Bimini top can be deployed on the foredeck, on carbon fiber poles.

The features Outer Reef retained on the 670 include the aft galley that defines the interior. It complements the alfresco entertaining space on the aft deck, which is protected from the elements via the flybridge overhang. With the full-height, patio-style door folded away, and with the electrically actuated glass bulkhead lowered, the whole space becomes available for indoor-outdoor gathering.
Outer Reef also kept the elegant wood-and-steel interior staircase to the flybridge (there is also a vertical ladder from the cockpit), along with the beefy, pantograph-style doors at the lower helm that lead to protected side decks. A fixed hardtop shades the upper helm and the barbecue abaft the bridge. A 1,000-pound-capacity davit is also on this deck.

A pair of 500-hp John Deere diesels are part of a standard onboard machinery package that includes ABT-Trac 220 stabilizers, bow and stern thrusters, and a pair of 20-kW Northern Lights gensets. Engine options include 750-hp John Deere engines and Cat C12.9s (which are on Hull No. 1) rated at 985 hp apiece.
At approximately 9 knots, the 670 has a reported range of 1,200 nautical miles. Cruise speeds are 8 to 22 knots, depending on her engine package.
