Owning a boat is often an act of love. It’s a tool that brings you joy on the water. You use it to build memories with friends and family. We get attached to our boats, we value them. And sometimes we have to let them go. Such is the case with Pamela, this classic Ed Monk designed 1948 Grandy Sedan Cruiser. I came across her the other day on a “Trawlers for Sale” forum where her owner is looking to make a quick sale of the boat that he has loved and cruised faithfully in Alaska, through the Great Loop, and around Florida. He has decided to list her on Ebay – with no reserve – which is going to be a great deal for one lucky new boat owner.

This Grandy 34 was fully restored by the owner between 2002 and 2005. The restoration included repairing the forward keelson and stem, replacement of transom blocking, complete lining of and re-planking of the hull bottom with cypress, installation of steamed and sistered new white oak frames above and below the waterline, and sistered white oak floors. Between 2007 and 2009 she was repowered with a new 2008 Yanmar diesel engine. She also has a 3.5 kW generator, a 16,000 BTU reverse-cycle system, and a solar panel. She also comes with two new 90-gallon fuel tanks, a 40-gallon holding tank, 45 gallons of fresh water, and a hot water heater. Her steering is hydraulic. She was last hauled out two years ago and is in need of bottom paint, but before that she was hauled and painted every other year.
The owner has decided to retire from cruising and after a few attempts to sell the boat has listed her for auction on Ebay with no reserve. This classic wooden cruiser could easily be picked up for a fraction of her value and is ready cruise. The auction is short and ends Monday, September 3rd, at midnight.
