At the culmination of a successful Trawlerfest Baltimore, the attendees spoke with their ballots, naming the North Pacific Yachts 49 Euro as the 2021 Baltimore “People’s Choice.”

As Passagemaker reported earlier this year, while the 49 Euro is in many ways a new model, the shipyard calls the “Euro” version Hull No. 11 (or 4911) in North Pacific’s 49 Pilothouse line. The semi-displacement hull remains unchanged. The departure is more contemporary design and styling. With boat-buyer demographics skewing younger, the British Columbia-based brand wanted to appeal to buyers seeking a more modern look and feel, but with the materials and quality of a traditional trawler, according to North Pacific Yachts President Trevor Brice.

The award-winning new model from North Pacific Yachts was one of more than 20 trawlers and long-range cruisers on display at Trawlerfest Baltimore, the event series’ first in-person boat show since the start of the pandemic.

The fall weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the hundreds of show-goers who perused boats along the docks at Harbor East Marina in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Boats on display represented a wide variety of trawlers and coastal cruisers from 23 to 55 feet in length.

Twenty-nine educational seminars held on the docks held on the docks, on the water, and in various exhibition spaces in the nearby Hilton and Marriott hotels were all well-attended with strict Covid safety protocols in place.

“It was exciting to be back on the docks at our first in-person Trawlerfest event in almost two years,” said Passagemaker Editor-in-Chief Andrew Parkinson. “We were delighted to see so many smiling faces enjoying the show, from our vendors and sponsors to the show-goers themselves. Despite the hardships we’ve all faced over the last 18 months during the pandemic, it really felt like this was the right time and the right place to get back to a traditional in-person boat show format. We’re looking forward to our next in-person show coming up in Stuart, Florida, in March 2022, so save the date.”
