Vicem Yachts started building boats in the ‘80s in the tiny Black Sea town of Vicem. A Turkish businessman, Sebahattin (Sebastian) Hafizoglu was a fan of the legendary schooners of the Turkish Gulet, and he set out to reinterpret that model for modern taste, using a (then) state-of-the-art cold molded wood and epoxy technique. The locals became hooked on the design and its traditional styling—so much so that in 1991, Vicem Yachts was formally established.
Twenty-five years later, we’re talking about the recent launch of Vicem’s newest model in its cruiser line, the Vicem 67 Cruiser.
An elegant motor yacht, the Vicem 67 Cruiser features a classic three-stateroom layout with five distinct social areas, including a formal dining area to port with seating for four with a galley opposite, which can be open or separated, depending on owner preference. The salon has facing settees port and starboard, served by a table on a high-low pedestal. The lower helm is open to the social areas of the main deck, and has a side door for easy access to the side decks. A day head also resides on the main deck.
Power is a pair of 1,000-horsepower Volvo Penta D13 diesels using conventional shaft drives and custom designed 4-blade Nibral propellers. The standard engines yield a 16-knot cruise and top end of around 22 knots. With this engine package, the range at cruise is 800 nautical miles. At a “trawlerly” 8-knot pace, that extends to approximately 2,250 nm.
