With two hulls of its 85-foot series roaming the world’s seas, expedition boatbuilder Arksen has announced the next model in its line of off-grid explorers, the Arksen 65.
“The Arksen 65 has learned a huge amount from the 85, but it’s also very unique,” says Jim Mair, Chief Technical Officer of Arksen Marine. “It’s not a copy, paste and scale approach, it is a new model with similar traits to its sister vessel, but follows a distinctly different use-case path.”
The aluminum 65 is available with two propulsion options: twin 160-hp John Deere diesels or a parallel hybrid package mated to a large solar array. The builder claims a 3,700-nautical-mile range with the Deere engines.
Like the 85’s that have preceded her, the 65 has an open plan for the salon, with large wraparound windows lighting the space and a fully enclosed skylounge. There’s room for a tender up to 11 feet on the boat deck.
Accommodations include a large master stateroom, aft cabin and room for a third forward stateroom, all of which are en suite. In contrast to her pugnacious profile and unfinished aluminum hull (one can opt for the Awlgrip color of their choice), her interior renderings show luxe, refined and comfortable spaces.
“The Arksen 65 is at the cutting edge of innovation in this sector, it takes all of the core ingredients and capability of the larger boats in the Arksen range, like the 85, and brings it down into a more manageable envelope. From my perspective, it is the ultimate explorer boat for my family and I to enjoy where we can control our environment and pretty much go wherever we want,” says Founder and CEO Jasper Smith.
Arksen says they foresee an 18-month build time on the 65.
