Lucca, an eight-month-old Tibetan Terrier sits atop the cabin of Freedom, an Eastbay 49 docked at the Chesapeake Yacht Club at Shady Side, Maryland, on the West River. Freedom spends the boating season on the West River, docked at the Chesapeake Yacht Club, then Bill and Carolyn Carlton move her south to her home port of New Bern, North Carolina, in late October for the winter.

“Lucca has been boating since he was two months old,” say Bill and Carolyn. “He loves to be snug in his PFD, which he wears whenever we are under way and does not mind the boat’s motion, but is always eager to get ashore at the end of the day.”

Our Float ‘n’ Fetch contest is now under way and you can vote for your favorites by clicking on the logo at left. You can vote once per day for however many dogs you choose. In December the editor’s will narrow the top vote-getters to three winners.

The contest was fed from entries to weekly Pets Aboard feature. The deadline is past for Pets Aboard dogs to get into Float ‘n’ Fetch. But please keep sending us your pets to post. Those pictures will form the basis for the entries the next time we have a contest.

So go ahead and vote. The winning dog will have a floating handheld radio from ICOM, a device well worth fetching.
