Cracker Jack, a yellow Labrador Retriever, is recovering from a serious bacterial infection in his spine. He recently spent a week at the University of Georgia veterinary school hospital fighting this infection. Since his release from the hospital he has been enjoying his time aboard recovering.
Jack’s human companions are Joy and Steve Poole. Jack affectionately calls them Mr. Adventure and Mama Jo. Mr. Adventure and Mama Jo enjoy spending time with Captain Jack aboard Meandering Joy, homeport, Athens, Georgia. Meandering Joy is a Fleming 55. In this picture Jack is recovering from a serious bacterial infection in his spine.
Recently he cruised from Charleston all the way to Titusville, Florida. He has plans to return to Meandering Joy soon and continue traveling to St. Petersburg, where he will spend the winter. Jack enjoys chasing tennis balls, swimming, prancing down the docks and meeting new friends at every marina he visits. When Jack goes home to Athens, Georgia he joins his mother Piper and brother Hobie, both black Labrador Retrievers who keep watch over the home while Mr. Adventure and Mama Jo are away
Remember, every Friday afternoon (or Saturday morning when we get behind) begins Pets Aboard Weekend here at passagemaker.com, but we need your help to keep it going.
Send pictures of your dog or cat to [email protected], and we’ll put him or her on display like Cracker Jack. Ideally you will include the names of the human companions, the make, model and name of boat, homeport, and a paragraph that provides context for the image or describes what makes your pet special. If you’ve got the image in high-resolution, that would allow us to publish it in the magazine, or a calendar…We just don’t know where this will lead yet, but it’s fun.
Though not exactly a contest, the editors are thinking of providing some kind of material reward to anyone who sends a truly striking image. Cute counts!
