In the video the Coast Guardsman says to the gray-muzzled old dog, “You’re the best person I’ve ever rescued.”
The dog was swimming in the ocean off Bowditch Point Wednesday when a Fort Myers Beach Coast patrol found him. The crew had been alerted to look for a “dog in distress.”
“Thanks to the crew’s expertise in intercepting non-compliant vessels (NCV) and recovering a person in the water (PIW), our ‘star’ of the night was safely recovered and returned to her owner,” the coast guard wrote on one of its Facebook pages, where the video was first posted.
