Joel Schmidt of Little Rock, Arkansas, thought his father was dying and told him he would bury him in his fishing boat.
Schmidt’s father didn’t die, but it caused him to start a company called Glory Boats, which makes caskets for fishermen and duck hunters who want to be buried in a boat.
The company offers six models with varying trim patterns from solid brown and khaki to pink camouflage.
Schmidt says older generations prefer to stick with tradition and that most sales come from people who are less than 70 years old.
The company’s website says, “The inside of a Glory Boat is softer and more comfortable than traditional caskets.”
Whether that actually matters is a separate subject, but you can read more about the company in this article from CBS.com or at the Glory Boat website.
