A 1982 Grand Banks 42 is among 60 storm-damaged vessels to be auctioned in Miami with no reserve by a company called USauctions.com The boat, sunk during Hurricane Irma, looks okay in the pictures but she’s a mud-filled mess inside with engines and systems flooded and non-functioning. The vessel is to be auctioned beginning on Dec. 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Here’s the auction-house description:

Hull in poor condition with shiny gelcoat where there are no holes. Upper helm only part not submerged. Vessel was holed while in its slip during Irma. Approximately 12-square-foot hole in starboard chine aft of amidships. While on bottom rolled to port leaving starboard corner of flybridge to include upper helm, out of water. Mast and bimini taken down with canvas in tatters. Interior inundated with seaweed and mud.

All mechanical and electrical equipment submerged and not preserved. The hole in the chine is not that serious structurally and bulkheads are probably okay but unable to do complete inspection. Other damages include teak rail, interior teak bulkheads lamination bubbling, all electrical components. Not all equipment could be tested as no power to vessel at time of inspection.  

Engines: Twin Ford Lehman 6 Cylinder 130HP/each Diesel Inboard Engines. Engines submerged. Engine room mostly inaccessible, lots of mud. Engines not preserved. All engine room components damaged beyond economical repair. No preservation performed. Engines seized. Engines not tested. 

Transmissions: Borg Warner. Transmissions submerged with no preservation, not tested. 

Genset/Batteries: Generator in poor condition, submerged, not preserved, not tested. Batteries in poor condition, submerged, not tested. 

Electronics: No electronics sighted, missing and/or submerged. 

Galley & Furnishings: Galley with sink, storage, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator and stove. Appliances in poor condition, submerged, not tested. Interior submerged, in poor condition, with salon, galley, two staterooms forward and aft, and two heads forward and aft. Parquet flooring submerged, in poor condition. Wood trim shows water damage.

Miscellaneous: Windlass submerged, in poor condition, not tested. No exterior canvas intact. Two heads forward and aft, both submerged, not tested.
