TrawlerFest-Florida’s seminar series has two cutting-edge technical topics over the weekend–“Solar Energy: The Time Has Come” and “Water World.”
The technology has come way up, and prices have dropped. Solar energy on boats has come of age, particularly if you intend to cruise in the Sunshine State. Marine tech John Petrie will discuss how to size your solar bank, differences in types and brands of panel, installation considerations, batteries and maintenance.
He will also share a little known fact—the federal government will help pay for your installation. Petrie grew up in upstate New York, caught the boating bug and found his way to Fort Lauderdale, where he worked his way up to become a manager for a yacht manufacturing company. Now, as an independent operator, he specializes in renewable energy. Petrie presents “Solar Energy: The Time Has Come” 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 11.

Water World
It’s about the water in your boat, not the water your boat is in! Fresh water, soft water, saltwater, reverse osmosis water, deionized water—what do we do with all of these types of water in our boat? Managing and keeping a boats water system in a healthy condition can be a challenge.
In his “Water World” seminar, Capt. Bob Arrington as he breaks down the chemistry in different types of water and how to keep your water tanks fresh and usable all the times. Saturday, March 10, 8:30-10:30 a.m.
You can take these two seminars and a boatload of others for single price. Being a four- or six-day VIP gives you access their choice of attending any seminar (except the Diesel engine and on-the-water boat handling course). The cost is $399 for a four-day VIP pass and $499 for the six-day pass. Visit our ticketing site and do some math. You’ll see how being a VIP maximizes your seminar buying power.
