Ken and Roberta Williams like challenges. They have owned a trio of Nordhavns, taking them just about everywhere—from Alaska to Costa Rica down the North American coastline, hopscotching the Aleutian Islands to Russia, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong and across the Atlantic Ocean to a baker’s dozen countries in the Mediterranean.
After 60,000 nautical miles, they faced what would be their most arduous voyage. After supervising a refit on a 90-foot Moonen Doggersbank, they cast lines from Nome, Alaska heading north into the ice to take on the Northwest Passage.
We caught up with Ken Williams who was back home in Seattle after leaving the boat, named North Star, in Halifax upon completing the journey.
