The Safe Anchoring Guide is available for free download at the Fortress website. In it, boaters will gain an understanding of the complete anchoring process. Topics include determining holding power, rode scope, working with soft mud bottoms, when and how to deploy two anchors, and how to set and retrieve an anchor. The same content with helpful animations can also be found here.

Fortress anchors are made in the USA of marine-grade, aluminum-magnesium alloy. Although they’re much lighter than traditional heavy steel anchors, they’re so strong that they’re used on 154′ US Coast Guard cutters. Their sharpened flukes can be adjusted to 32° or 45°, to optimize for different bottom conditions. Eight models are available for boats up to 150 feet. Prices start at $100.

A few years back the company stirred the anchor pot by hosting an anchor shootout on the Chesapeake.
